Our Learning
Primary 5 is an exciting year at Hermitage Primary. Our focus throughout the year is to develop independence and confidence so the children can take more ownership of their learning as they move onto the Second Level of The Curriculum for Excellence. We want the children to develop themselves as both individuals and learners, finding their own voices and taking greater responsibility with the choices they make.
We start to explore so more challenging topics, like Space, in greater depth through group work, projects and problem solving activities. This helps us to develop important personal qualities such as kindness, patience, respect and resilience.
We have many opportunities for talking in front of the class. We give short presentations, share our group work, explain our ideas and take part in class debates. These experience help us to build confidence in speaking in front of a large audience and expressing our thoughts in a respectful manner.
By the end of Primary 5, we are confident and ready to take on the next step of moving on to Primary 6.
