Primary 6

At Hermitage Primary, P6 is a big year for our pupils as they start stepping up into senior leadership roles. Our main focus is continuing their progress through the Second Level of the Curriculum for Excellence, but we also place a huge emphasis on building the life skills and social responsibility they’ll need as they get older.

It’s always a busy year with plenty of hands-on learning. Highlights include specialist music tuition in Samba drumming and our Bikeability programme, where the children get out on their bikes to learn how to stay safe on the roads.

One of the most important parts of P6 happens toward the end of the year. As the children prepare for P7, they take on a mentorship role through our P1 Buddy Transition Programme. It’s a lovely way for them to welcome our newest pupils and show real leadership as they help the P1s start their journey at Hermitage.
